Kris York

MEd, LCMHCA

Kris moved to North Carolina in 1999 with her husband and two children. She completed her undergraduate studies in Sociology and Psychology at Meredith College. She earned her MEd in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at St. Bonaventure University.

Kris is licensed as a Clinical Mental Heath Counselor Associate. She completed her internship in a private practice working with children, adolescents and adults gaining experience with depression, anxiety, suicidal
ideation, self-harm, grief and life transitions. The practice also included an Intensive Outpatient Program for teens that Kris had the privilege of working in.

Kris believes counseling is a journey. Her goal is to walk beside the client during this journey. Each client has individual strengths and building upon those strengths, Kris works with the client to fulfill their goals. This journey is centered around the client in a compassionate,
nonjudgmental, safe, and empathetic environment.

Kris utilizes evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Mindfulness. Each of these practices are conducted in a person-centered environment.

Kris is LGBTQ+ affirming and is excited to work with diverse populations of age, gender, and
ethnicity.
