Bethlyn Johnson

Bethlyn chose to move from the cold and snowy winters of the Chicago suburbs to the Raleigh area in 2011. Bethlyn graduated from North Central College in Naperville with a Bachelors in Sociology and Psychology and went on to obtain her Masters in Clinical Psychology from Benedictine University in Lisle, IL. She completed her internship with Family Counseling Service of Aurora, IL where she obtained certification in counseling victims and perpetrators of Domestic Violence. While in Raleigh, Bethlyn has developed her practice working in Intensive In-home therapy, residential treatment for eating disorders, as well as outpatient therapy.
Bethlyn’s approach utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, as well as dialectical behavioral therapy . Bethlyn wholeheartedly believes in the collaborative nature of therapy and encourages her client’s to examine their beliefs and values, and supports them in taking committed action toward their goals. Through her understanding, compassionate, and empathetic nature Bethlyn works well with children, adolescents, and adults. Bethlyn has experience treating depression, anxiety, bi-polar disorder,eating disorders, social phobias, self esteem issues, grief and loss issues, and anger management issues.
