Kris York
MEd, LCMHCA
I provide individual therapy for children (ages 5+), teens, and adults with in-person sessions in downtown Raleigh and telehealth appointments throughout North Carolina.
As a former preschool teacher and stay-at-home mom, I understand the demands of balancing family, work, and life’s transitions. I enjoy supporting women navigating motherhood, life changes, and learning to set healthy boundaries.
I also have a special interest in working with parents of neurodivergent children. Both of my now-adult children are neurodivergent, and my personal journey of learning to support and advocate for them has shaped my clinical approach. I understand that parenting often includes both joy and challenges, and I strive to create a space where parents feel supported as they care for their children while also caring for themselves.
When working with children, I use developmentally appropriate play, creative activities, and skill-building to help them express emotions, build confidence, and develop healthy coping skills. My approach is collaborative, person-centered, and LGBTQ+ affirming. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution- Focused Therapy, mindfulness, grounding techniques, and practical coping strategies to meet each client’s unique needs.
I believe counseling is a journey of growth, healing, and self-discovery, and I would be honored to walk alongside you on that journey.
My goal is to provide a safe, supportive space where you can share your story at your own pace, build on your strengths, and work toward meaningful, lasting change.
