Elena Johnson

M.Ed., LPCS

There are times in our lives where we all feel overwhelmed, unmotivated, and disconnected. As we learn self-awareness and practice self-acceptance we are able to re-examine beliefs and behaviors that keep us from balance, contentment, and connection. I work with individuals, ages 15 and older, on becoming “unstuck” from anxiety, depression, trauma, body-image, eating disorders, women’s issues, chronic stress, relationship concerns, and difficult life transitions.

I primarily utilize Somatic Psychotherapy, Expressive Arts Therapy, Embodied Mindfulness, Therapeutic Yoga, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. These, along with a healthy dose of humor, are intended to help clients achieve regulation and resilience via the mind-body connection and explore new ways of existing in the world.

In addition to working in private practice I provide individual yoga therapy, lead workshops and retreats, and offer ceremony facilitation. My mission is to create a safe space in which others can share their stories and utilize the experiential process to connect to their intrinsic wisdom, so as to participate more fully with life.

I received my Bachelors in Psychology and Dance from the College of Charleston, Charleston, SC and my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with dual emphases in Expressive Arts Therapy and Body-Centered Therapy, from Appalachian State University, Boone NC. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist, Certified Expressive Arts Therapist, Somatic Psychotherapist, and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I hold 200 hour certifications in Hatha and Kunga Yoga, as well as advanced certifications in Restorative and Trauma-Informed Yoga.
