Elena Johnson, MA, LPC, LCAS, CYT received her Bachelors in Psychology and Dance from the College of Charleston, Charleston, SC and her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with dual emphases in Expressive Arts Therapy and Body-Centered Therapy, from Appalachian State University, Boone NC. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist, Certified Expressive Arts Therapist, Somatic Therapist, and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. She holds 200 hour certifications in Hatha and Kunga Yoga, as well as advanced certification in Restorative and Trauma-Informed Yoga.

Elena works with adults, teens, and couples confronted with various life challenges including: depression, anxiety, trauma, self-harming behaviors, relationship concerns, eating disorders, substance abuse, grief and loss, self-esteem, stress, work-life balance, and difficult life transitions. She especially enjoys working with trauma, body-image, anxiety, and other mood disorders, helping clients to achieve mindful resilience through the mind-body connection. She utilizes an eclectic approach that includes Expressive Arts Therapy, Body-Centered Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Therapeutic Yoga, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. These, along with other evidence-based practices and a healthy dose of humor, are intended to help clients discover a better way to respond to the challenges in their lives and explore new ways of existing in the world.

In addition to working in private practice, she provides yoga therapy at an eating disorders facility, teaches public and private yoga sessions, leads workshops and retreats, and offers ceremony facilitation. Her mission is to create a safe space in which others can share their stories and utilize the creative process to inspire catharsis, joy, and empowerment; helping clients and students to realize their inner divinity and intrinsic wisdom so as to step fully into their authentic selves.
